Maturity Matrix
Your maturity matrix is a pictorial representation of the maturity of your management system with respect to managing events more sustainably. It will help you determine the quality/strength of your systems for sustainable event management.
You need to develop your own maturity matrix (a generic example is provided in the Standard itself). The matrix should be based upon your key sustainability principles (such as inclusivity, integrity, stewardship and transparency for example) and practices.
For each of your practices, you need to define management and performance characteristics or criteria with respect to sustainable development reflecting the nature of your organisation, its activities and operations.
Determining your current position on your matrix allows you to identify areas of weaknesses and areas for improvement.
By routinely tracking your progress along the matrix, you will be able to demonstrate continual improvement of your management system, capabilities and outcomes.
You need to keep your matrix up to date to reflect changing circumstances and you need to ensure it is applicable to your suppliers.
