The Certification Assessment involves 3 stages:
Stage 1: Desk Top Documentation Review:A desk top review of your management system will be undertaken prior to the Certification Assessment site visit. This will require documentation (in English) to be sent electronically at least 2 weeks in advance of the Certification Assessment visit. A list of documentation required will be sent to you in advance. The desk top review will identify omissions or weaknesses and this will enable corrections to be made prior to the actual Certification Assessment visit.
Stage 2: Certification Assessment Visit:The one-day Certification Assessment visit involves a formal audit of your sustainability management system. This will involve interviews with management and employees, a review of the management system, associated documents and records and a closing meeting with management to feedback findings and conclusions. (If you are an event organiser, this stage may involve a visit to one of your events.)
Stage 3; Report and Certificate:After the Certification Assessment visit, we will issue a formal report identifying any non-conformities within your sustainability management system. Should there be no significant issues then we will issue a BS 8901 Certificate of Conformance which will be valid for 3 years.
You will be able to use the SEC Certified logo to indicate that you are certified to BS 8901 on correspondence, advertising and promotional material including electronic media (e.g. the Internet) accompanied by the certificate number.
